The lantern isn't done yet and it's likely we will be having another one of those all nighters...and I'm looking forward to it. I'm having so much fun in my new college. Now, I'm doubly sure I made the right decision.
S'mores and Stillwaters...
It was the other Saturday (i think) that I wasn't really feeling well in the morning. But i decided to attend an acquaintance party at a cool place called stillwaters where Christians get to meet up. It was a simple party but the atmosphere was very relaxed despite the fact that I was mostly among stangers. It was my first time to have a S'mores experience. We actually roasted marshmallows and put them in betweeen chocoalate and Graham crackers...which was soooo good. But one thing I really enjoyed that night was that I got the chance to play something I haven't in over 5 years, and that's table tennis. I wasn't as rusty as I thought since I left the table...ehem ehem...undefeated :P , haha...nagyabang daw. But really, I had so fun that night and I made so many new friends, which is never bad.
Subic Invasion
Though the original dates of the trip were postponed, it finally pushed through on another long weekend after so much planning and hoping. Though it almost didn't push through since we had problems of probable transportation. But luckily, the uncle of the de guzman sisters was kind enough to lend us his van for the weekend(an offer made only the day before the said trip). On one condition though, that their parents would have to drive it, hehe. So there we were, off to subic by 6am in the morning of that Sunday. Ralph and I got the best seats with lots of legroom since we were in the back and the girls seemed ok sittng in front. We made a stopover at Mcdonald's for our breakfast and it was te first time I finally found out the nutritional values of all the stuff I eat at Mcdonanld's (probably something they had to do after the documentary Supersize Me came out).
I've never been to Subic before but somehow the terrain seemed a bit familiar and kind of reminded me about some parts of Cebu, which is always nice. So we arrived at our first destination(the beach!) at some time before noon. The place looked grand and the water seemed sooooo inviting. So we went to our cottage and started applying some sunscreen lotion while some people where having fun falling off some kinda banana shaped boat not too far from shore. Marielle started parading under the sun in an effort to get that elusive tan, unknowingly catching the attention of some guys at the beach, haha. While sheila on the other hand comes back to complain about the restrooms... I'd rather not elaborate. Eventually, we all headed for water except for Ralph who wanted to be the one left behind to watch over the stuff. It was a wise decision since the beach was kind of misleading. First of all, the sand wasn't really sand but a bunch of rocks for the first few meters in. And though it got better as we got farther, it also got deeper. As in really deep...it was almost like we were on a cliff hidden by water. Since I'm not really a good swimmer, then I didn't even dare...and neither did they. Consequently, we all decided to go to the pool which wasn't that bad. It was actually quite nice and big and had some rocky islands in it, but there were a bunch of rowdy foreigners around who kinda ate up space coz they were throwing each other in the pool and were playing some version of volleyball as a contact sport in water. Anyway, like I said...the pool was big so we found some space. At around two, we realized we had to get something to eat so Ralph and I ventured into the city to get some Jollibee munchies. On the way back, there was this girl on the jeep who's job description was made obvious by her choice of clothing, that Ralph was insisting kept staring at me. Well, I wouldn't know...all I know is that this meant Ralph kept looking at her throughout the trip if she indeed was looking at me, haha. Ralph...tsk tsk(wawa si Gem). Anyway, after getting lunch done, we went into the pool again and stayed there racing and fooling around till 5. Oh wait, one other thing that happened while we were in the pool area was that some half drunk guys went swimming in the pool. One of them was actually just in his tidy whities (the cheap cotton kind)...I won't elaborate further. But they were dubbed by Ralph as "Sheila's boys", haha.
So after that, we headed for forest hills to have our first look-see of our bunks for the night. And the place was really cool...literally and figuratively. Nice and cozy three two-bed bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining area and a cozy living room with tv. It was complete...and all just for a total price of P4000. Not bad at all. We had dinner at Yellow Cab and headed back to our hotel for some all-nighter pigfest and bonding session over hot chocolate. But one by one...we fell...asleep, haha.
The next day, Noelle woke everyone up for breakfast and we played tennis but halted after signs of a probable rain shower. The girls headed for the pool instead while ralph and I decided to just watch tv. Then Argeme calls to tell us to go some place called El Kabayo. Ralph and I got lost at first, climbing uphill to a road that lead nowhere. But eventually we found the place after venturing into a path with relatively dense vegetation. Turns out the place was a river(or brook ata) with a bunch of waterfalls with clear & COLD water. I didn't get to swim because i was wearing shoes so I just took the videos and some pictures. We then check out around lunch time to have lunch at some Italian resto with an eat-all-you-can pasta promo. But I wasn't hungry so I ended up catching some Z's. Before heading home, we stopped by some duty free shops and I got to have my chocolate fix for the day. On the way home, we were all obviuosly tired and spent but had to survive some heavy traffic. We left Subic around 3pm and arrived in Quezon City a Quarter to ten. That's how bad traffic was. But It was a great weekend!
the subic gang:)
